Birds
Mallard Duck
The Mallard Duck does not dive for its food, but rather it feeds at or just below the surface of the water on plants, insects, and other small invertebrates.
Large predators like foxes and coyotes will eat Mallard Ducks. Even Snapping Turtles will pull baby ducks below the surface to eat.

Great Blue Heron
The Great Blue Heron is a very tall bird that spends a lot of time wading through the shallow water of ponds and lakes or standing very still while looking for its food. The Heron seizes its prey with its very sharp beak. It eats fish, frogs, freshwater mussels, snails, and other aquatic animals.
Bald Eagles may eat adult Blue Herons, but the young are eaten by raccoons, eagles, and coyotes.

Red-Winged Blackbird
The Red-Winged Blackbird is a common sight around ponds, marshes, and lakes. Their call is also familiar to those who visit these places. Red-Winged Blackbirds feed on plant material, including seeds, blackberries, blueberries, as well as animals like dragonflies, damselflies, frogs' eggs, spiders, moths, and similar organisms. Raccoons, snakes, minks, and foxes are common predators of Red-Winged Blackbird nests, while hawks are the main predators of adult Blackbirds.
